A weekend away

Beauty of form in the patterns of sand and rock deposits

London Bridge at Portsea

We don't often get the opportunity to have a weekend away. That's why it seems fitting to record, with pictures and a few notes, our visit to the Mornington Peninsula this weekend.  We had no particular plans, so after a late start we went out and walked along the beach. The weather was mild - the beaches were almost deserted.

This picture was taken from the sand dunes along the ocean beach at Sorrento.
On the horizon you can just see Melbourne.

We climbed many stairs at Point Nepean
We visited historic sites
The historic buildings of the quarantine station
Beautiful coastal wilderness - Bass Strait to the Right, and Port Phillip Bay to the Left.

The horizon is really horizontal - the camera was not! But, Noel worked out how to use the timer on the camera.
